JOB SUMMARY:

In collaboration with the admissions team, the Admissions Officer will contribute to all aspects of RISD’s admissions process. Specifically, the Admissions Officer is responsible for traveling to high schools, portfolio days, and other relevant events to articulate RISD’s offerings, recruiting prospective applicants, and building relationships with key influencers. The Admissions Officer will review and evaluate applications for admission to the College and participate in admissions committee meetings. In addition, the incumbent will participate in and contribute to the development and delivery of yield programming, including but not limited to Admitted Students Day and various housing, student, career and international student webinars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Coordinate the schedule for and participate in the planning and development of recruitment activities such as conducting regular information programs on and off campus. Participate in and recruit alumni volunteers for Portfolio Days.  Present during high school visits and evaluate artwork to support prospective student portfolio development.

  • Support areas of auxiliary responsibility, which may include, but are not limited to, minority recruitment initiatives, student ambassador program development, digital media/marketing outreach, and/or the planning, coordination, and execution of admissions and recruitment events, including campus programs and special events.

  • Track, manage, and report data across assigned regions, supporting recruitment, enrollment strategy, and broader admissions operations.

  • Conduct evaluations of applicant credentials, including visual art submissions, present viable candidates for admissions, attend Admissions Committee meetings, and act as a voting member of the admissions committee in the decision process.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for RISD while counseling prospective students, families, and other interested parties regarding undergraduate and graduate degree programs and admission processes.

  • Initiate, cultivate, and manage relationships with applicants, parents, counselors, and teachers concerning RISD and the RISD application.

  • Deliver campus tours and admissions presentations to prospective students, families, and visitors at all stages of the admissions process.

  • Provide operational and collaborative support across the Office of Admissions, working with campus partners and contributing to overall enrollment initiatives.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • B.F.A., B.A. in Studio Art preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team and in an environment that values diversity as defined by, race, color, religion, age, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, national origin, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible and responsive to changing needs, priorities, and organizational goals.

  • Ability to evaluate visual artwork.

  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking and content building

  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, google suite, Keynote and/or Power Point a plus.

  • Valid driver's license and passport required.
