JOB SUMMARY
Director Channel Operations is responsible for establishing and managing operational and contractual relationships with distributors, developing channel capabilities and channel metrics/analytics to achieve sales targets and operational efficiencies, Account Management responsibilities for designated distributors, managing the commercial supply chain to ensure that J&J Med Tech Surgery customers are satisfied with the transactional activities associated with doing business, and protecting the brand from damage and losses that could be caused brand protection incidents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under (e.g. limited supervision, general direction, etc.) and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson procedures and guidelines, this position will:
- Build relationships with top distributors representing approx. $2B in annual net sales.
- Develop and maintain account management accountabilities with designated distributors to include a joint business planning process and measurement.
- Manage the contractual and affiliate term sheet development and support the negotiation process.
- Develop and manage a robust channel analytics capability. Oversee the measurement of distributor performance incentives.
- Monitor distributor operational and commercial metrics and drive resolution to poor performance.
- Manage process to efficiently respond to handle product data inquiries from distributors and kit packers. Accountable for operational integration with kit packers.
- Implement annual price increase and Inventory stabilization program.
- Support product launches via tight coordination with marketing to ensure quick and flawless launch. Coordinate communications, i.e. product discontinuations, news product launches with distributors.
- Support product recall process.
- Help develop new business models through insight generation, incentive design and financial modeling, legal and anti-trust alignment, operationalizing for cost containment, relationship and negotiation with external parties, rollout assessment and launch planning, and supply chain impact and oversight.
- Work with JJHCS Enterprise Contracting to ensure accurate and efficient rebates payments of over $4B to distributor network. Assist in dispute resolution and distributor year end close
- Deploy oversight measures to enable accurate distributor inventory reporting and relation to consumer demand/gross trade. Track and monitor distributor performance, i.e. purchases, unit variance, inventory trends
- Coordinate with marketing, Finance and supply chain on S&OP process, inclusive of distributor Net Trade Sales and Inventory forecasts.
- Coordinate with JJHCS on the development and measurement of Commercial Program performance agreements and data accuracy of payments.
- Support the field sales organization in resolving supply chain issues with customers.
- Serve as a resource for JJHCS on commercial supply chain and establish JJ Med Tech Surgery sales policies and supply chain fees. Oversee terms of sale policies and returns process.
- Serve as the commercial liaison with JJHCS, corporate security, Ethicon leadership, other MD&D operating companies, and affiliates to represent interests and aid in policy development/implementation.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
- Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs other duties assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelors degree required
- 10+ years of experience required
- Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Process management, Statistics, Finance
- Industry Experience: Medical device or Rx channel, Planning, Deliver, Strategic Customer or Finance
- 5+ Years People Management Experience Required
- Strong leadership skills with teams and stakeholders, ability to think strategically and develop high impact strategic solutions and have a high sense of urgency to take action and achieve flawless execution
- Interdependent partnering and collaborative skills across multiple functions and geographical locations
- Ability to effectively influence leadership and to navigate a highly matrixed structure
