Position Information
The Texas A&M AgriLife Research - Beeville Station is seeking a motivated, team-oriented Research Associate to support ongoing beef cattle nutrition and reproductive physiology research programs. Tasks include performing animal husbandry and technical procedures with cattle. Supervise data collection and record-keeping for research projects, laboratory records, and farm records. Work independently and to supervise research activities and other lab personnel.
Responsibilities:
Help manage research projects related to beef cattle nutrition and reproductive physiology. Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.
Coordinate with outside vendors for laboratory, livestock, and farm supplies.
Organize work schedules for all farm employees and coordinate with Human Resources.
Collaborate with principal investigator and graduate students in preparing and performing research projects.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research; keep detailed records of data.
Install, operate, and/or repair research equipment.
Summarize results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications.
Perform general laboratory maintenance and record keeping.
Perform general farm tasks and animal husbandry.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
Two years of related professional experience.
Strong background in cattle management and production systems.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to present data and perform other compute related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field.
Experience in general laboratory tasks.
Experience with record keeping.
