Boyd’s Fredericksburg, VA design center is developing innovative thermal Cooling Distribution Units (CDU) for the AI and Data Center industry. The engineering team is seeking to grow our multi-disciplined engineering team to tackle new challenges in the industry and is seeking a talented Safety/Compliance Engineer to fill a critical role within the team. General Responsibilities

The Safety/Compliance Engineer will be a member of a multi-discipled engineering team providing innovative thermal products for the AI and Data Center industries.  The position is responsible for reviewing the design for safety compliance, directing design to meet UL, IEC, CE, CB, REACH requirements, coordinating safety/compliance testing, and directing internal and external test events.

The role will include:

  • Ensure product and engineering compliance by developing and executing compliance programs and completing documentation.
  • Complete compliance matrix reviews of product against applicable standards and regulations.
  • Prevent compliance issues by collaborating with engineering design teams, reviewing design data, and developing compliance policies.
  • Research and identify applicable regulatory and industry compliance standards and codes.
  • Develop compliance plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying compliance engineering concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria.
  • Organize compliance programs and execute safety and compliance testing by preparing timetables, cost estimates, required resources, internal testing resources, and external test center coordination.
  • Determine compliance by establishing compliance test standards, conducting and witnessing tests, performing diagnostic procedures, measuring performance, analyzing and evaluating findings, and performing forensic analysis and troubleshooting of failures.
  • Document compliance by completing approval applications, recording test results, preparing investigative reports, preparing, and filing Declarations of Conformity, and maintaining compliance database.

Experience / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering field and 5+ years of experience in a technical role as an engineer

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, product development, or test center focused on safety and compliance.

• Experience with UL testing and global regulations preferred.
