Strong healthcare operations leader and practicing clinician responsible for the oversight of 10-15 Carbon Health centers within a market. A successful Area Medical Director is intrinsically motivated, challenge-driven, rethinks traditions and genuinely cares about employees and patients. The Area Medical Director acts with an owner’s mindset, cultivating new ideas for driving business performance by leading the clinic teams, managing financial outcomes, and supporting patient retention and growth through effective operations and direct patient care.

● Deliver up-to-date, evidence-based, and compassionate care to patients in clinic
● Perform procedures within scope of urgent care and/or primary care
● Collaborate with clinical team to facilitate efficient patient flow through the clinic
● Supervise clinical care performed by PAs and/or NPs
● Document care in timely and accurate manner
● Promote professional development for Center Medical Directors and clinician team
● Provide approximately 10 hours/week of direct patient care
● Responsible for the daily oversight and clinical operations of the centers in your market
● In partnership with Center Medical Directors, set, communicate and maintain the highest quality of care and safety standards
● Routine reporting to the national leadership team on the state of center operations
● Accountable to the financial performance and P&L oversight by ensuring the budgeted productivity, labor, and other expenses are achieved
● Supervise center managers to review and routinely perform cost analysis and ensure supplies are adequately managed
● Responsible for being up-to-date and knowledgeable with regard to diagnostic and procedure coding, and how it affects reimbursement (training staff as needed)
● Promote staff contentment, ownership, loyalty, and happiness by modeling the behaviors yourself
● Encourage agility, transparency and autonomous decision making within teams
● Lead and take part in the coordination of community outreach and occupational health growth within your clinics
● Define protocols and processes for providing continuity of care with external managers of surrounding primary care, specialty practices and other patient referral sources
● Partner with national leadership, people business partner and Center Medical Directors to elevate the employee experience in support of recruitment and retention within your market
● Active MD, DO license and board certified; Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
● 5+ years of experience in ER, urgent care or similar setting
● Valid, unrestricted medical and DEA licenses
● Ability to consult and treat patients of all ages
● BLS and/or ACLS certification is required and must be obtained before your first day with Carbon Health
● 3+ years experience leading others in a healthcare setting and experience overseeing multiple care sites
● Understanding of financial statements, P&L management and HR business processes
● Active listener with soft skills to build and maintain trusting relationships at all levels of the organization
● Excellent communication and interpersonal, time management, planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Area Medical Director Salary Range:
$215,000 - $270,000
Compensation offers include an hourly rate, a wRVU bonus plan, a weekend differential, and a balance of factors such as level of education, experience, work history, and geographic location. The Company complies with all state and local wage and hour laws.
