The Lead Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist is responsible for directing and controlling activities and operations in the Cardiac Cath Lab area of Cardiovascular Services for adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonate patients. A Brief Overview
The Lead Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist is responsible for directing and controlling activities and operations in the Cardiac Cath Lab area of Cardiovascular Services for adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonate patients. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do

  • Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates, examination and assignments and staff activities, including scheduling, patient assessments of adult and geriatric patients, monitoring of room activities, and coordination among other departments, to ensure effectiveness of operations and the delivery of optimum patient care.
  • Assures the provision of quality patient care in the assigned room and intervenes as appropriate.
  • Accepts authority and responsibility for clear, concise, accurate, and timely upward communication to keep Director informed.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.


Education Qualifications

  • Technical Degree or Diploma Respiratory Therapy
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Cardiovascular Technology
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Surgical Technology

Experience Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Cath Lab
  • 1-3 years Lead, Supervisory, or Management

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in basic and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or pediatric advanced life support (PALS) if working with children.
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and leadership in clinical practice; demonstrates competency in complex patient procedures that require additional skill and training.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Knowledge of use and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Effectively communicates with co-workers, physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • Acts as a lead-level Invasive Cardio technologist, providing day-to-day direction and assistance to Invasive Cardio Techs.

Physical Demands

  • Must be available for on-call and respond within the designated time frame for emergency procedures.
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Will be required to wear lead apron for extended periods of time.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
