Senior Accountant, H&SPay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $110,000 to $130,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.The Senior Accountant supports daily finance operations and maintains accurate financial records. This role records journal entries, reconciles accounts, and supports financial reporting and analysis. The Senior Accountant uses accounting principles, financial analysis, and knowledge of regulatory compliance to support all aspects of the team’s accounting and finance functions. The Senior Accountant serves as a versatile team player.
Responsibilities
Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Prepare, file, and pay quarterly and annual sales tax returns
Prepare monthly financials, bank reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries
Perform general ledger activities, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with the preparation of tax returns and compliance filings, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, verifying accuracy and resolving any discrepancies promptly
Conduct detailed financial analyses to support strategic decision-making
Cover any staff function with processing responsibilities as needed
Serve as backup to all accounting team members as needed
Work closely with internal and external auditors during periodic audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to ensure a smooth audit process
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements by following changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance
Prepare and process payroll through Workday
Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
10+ years of experience in accounting roles, with a focus on financial recordkeeping and analysis
High level of experience with payroll processing and related payroll duties, including quarterly and year-end W2 processing
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
Knowledge of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable function
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles
Knowledge of accounting procedures and methods and able to apply them to complex transactions
Advanced computer skills in MS Office
Able to prepare payroll, financial, and accounting records
Able to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience Required – 10+ Years
