Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Imaging Acquisition Specialist to join our veterinary medical team. This role focuses on the technical acquisition of diagnostic images using ultrasound. You will work closely with veterinarians and specialists to capture high-quality images that support accurate diagnoses, while interpretation of images remains the responsibility of credentialed doctors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient preparation, including positioning, for ultrasound procedures.  Other duties may also include CT procedures. Sedation and/or general anesthesia may be provided and monitored by our doctors and technicians.
• Operate imaging equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic studies in accordance with clinician directives.
• Capture images for a wide variety of studies including abdominal, thoracic, neurologic, musculoskeletal, and cardiac scans.
• Maintain accurate records, label and upload images to AIS or medical record systems.
• Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process, employing low-stress handling techniques.
• Maintain imaging suite cleanliness, assist with routine maintenance, and identify equipment concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with veterinary teams to ensure proper scan protocols are followed and scheduling needs are met.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal training through an accredited sonography training program.
• Strong understanding of veterinary anatomy, physiology, and imaging principles.
• Familiarity with equipment such as GE, Toshiba/Canon, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing standardized, high-quality images.
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a specialty hospital or advanced imaging department.
• Knowledge of DICOM standards and comfort working with PACS and RIS systems.
• Ability to manage imaging across multiple modalities in a fast-paced setting.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Specialty referral hospital setting with potential for evenings, weekends, or rotating shifts.
