Key Responsibilities:

• Provide community-based mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention implementation

• Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized treatment plans

• Utilize a strengths-based approach that incorporates evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Positive Reinforcement Techniques, Trauma-Informed Strategies, CBT, and DBT

• Provide behavioral interventions using methods including cognitive processing, operant conditioning, and group dynamics

• Coordinate care with external providers including physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and client progress

• Facilitate PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) group sessions as aligned with treatment plan goals

• Participate in ongoing staff development and training opportunities

• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives through data collection and reporting

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with families, schools, and community supports

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:​

• High school diploma with at least one year of experience in social services is required

(Defined by RSA designation under IL Administrative Code Part 132 Section 132.25).

• A mental health professional (defined in the IL Administrative Code Part 132 Section 132.25) is strongly preferred. This may include the following:

• A bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related human service field.

• A bachelor's degree in any other field with two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting.

• A practical nurse under the Illinois Nurse Practice Act [225 ILCS 65]; A certificate of psychiatric rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program, plus a high school diploma or GED, plus 2 years of experience in providing mental health services.

• A recovery support specialist certified by, and in good standing with the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc.

• A family partnership professional certificate from and in good standing with the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc.

• An occupational therapy assistant licensed under the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act [225 ILCS 75] with at least one year of experience in a mental health setting.

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 5 years of supervised clinical experience in mental health or human services

• Demonstrated education, training, or experience in the mental health services

• Adequate written skills to accurately complete required documentation within a timely manner as prescribed.

• Skilled in case management and community interventions

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Recovery Support Specialist

• Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

Additional Competencies

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and six months of supervised experience in mental health or human services.

• Documented education, training, or professional experience in the mental health services field.

• Proficiency in written communication, with the ability to complete documentation accurately and within prescribed timeframes.

• Demonstrated competence in case management and community support interventions.

• Certified Family Partnership Professional

• Individuals actively pursuing one of the above credentials who have completed at least 30 hours of training in mental health service provision.
