Skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex high voltage electronic and electrical equipment (up to 240 - 480 voltage) used in wastewater treatment or lift stations. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment within established technical standards under the supervision of a Utilities Supervisor. Work is subjected to inspection in progress and upon completion. Wastewater Instrumentation Technicians work on an assigned shift; however, employees in this classification may be required to work irregular hours in emergency situations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 20% inside a climate-controlled building; 80% outside which includes driving. Requires work around high voltage.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require: sitting approximately three (3) hours per day, standing approximately three (3) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The job also requires frequent: bending/stooping, climbing, grasping, kneeling, pulling, repetitive motion, lifting objects weighing up to 44 pounds, with occasional: fine manipulations, pushing, reaching, carrying objects weighing up to 44 pounds. On rare occasions the work requires: lifting and carrying objects weighing more than 45 pounds.
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to detect proper equipment operation and understand what others are saying in normal conversation. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others and speak effectively on the telephone. Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, operate a vehicle, detect color coding, and read normal and/or fine print.
Driving Requirements: The work requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Class "E" Driver License.
Technology: The work requires ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators, and all associated software. The work also requires proficiency with computer hardware and software programs including word, spreadsheet and/or database applications, internet applications, and database management.
Other Machines: The work requires the ability to operate the following machines: forklift, man lift, and motorized carts.
Tools: The work requires proficiency with grinders, band saws, drills, conduit benders, saws, and dremels or other tools as required.
