Job Title: Co-Responder

Location: Independence, MO

Department: Crisis Services

Employment Type: Full-time

Shift: Monday- Friday 5pm-1am

Job Summary:

As a Co-Responder, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with those in need, facilitating access to resources and support while ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role will help navigate the complexities of behavioral health care, paving the way for continuity of care within our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Independence Police Department to conduct crisis intervention and respond to community needs.
  • Coordinate services and develop local systems of care for individuals with behavioral health challenges.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and provide assistance during involuntary detention as necessary.
  • Document all interventions and ensure compliance with agency standards.
  • Attend conference calls, webinars, and required training sessions, while performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Crisis Services.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Master's Degree or higher is preferred.
  • Prefer crisis intervention experience.
  • Must be able to pass a background check as required by Independence Police Department.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Current driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must complete New Hire Orientation and all training requirements, including Relias.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Repetitive movements are required for typing and writing throughout the work shift.
  • Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
