Job Description:
Behavioral Health Technician (Full-Time) Overnights
Recovery Program – St. Louis, Missouri
We are seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to provide direct care and support to clients in our Recovery program. The BHT plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while assisting clients throughout the recovery process.
This position includes client supervision, health monitoring, crisis response, documentation, group facilitation, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team to support individualized care plans.
Provide direct supervision and support to clients in a residential recovery setting
Promote adherence to program expectations using trauma-informed practices
Obtain, monitor, and document vital signs and overall health status
Observe for signs and symptoms of withdrawal and report concerns promptly
Assist with admissions, orientation, and safety procedures
Monitor and document medication self-administration in accordance with policy
Complete shift documentation, progress notes, and incident reports accurately
Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-focused groups and structured activities
Conduct regular client checks and ensure participation in scheduled programming
Respond appropriately to crisis situations and communicate effectively with supervisors and clinical staff
Provide client transportation to appointments as needed
Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment
Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and team consultations
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, human services, or a related field preferred
Knowledge of confidentiality laws related to behavioral health and substance use treatment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to document clearly and accurately in an electronic medical record system
Ability to establish rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
Basic computer proficiency
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Successful completion of background screening (criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, fingerprint)
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
Completion of onboarding and required annual trainings
This role involves primarily sedentary work with periods of standing and walking. Duties may include occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and repetitive hand movements for documentation and computer use.
