Brookings Health System is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the Yorkshire Medical Building.
Compensation range for this position is $16.95 to $25.10, depending on experience.

We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Part-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our eye clinic team. This role supports the optometrist and ophthalmologist by assisting with patient care, performing preliminary testing, and managing contact lens orders. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain patient medical and ocular history
Perform visual acuity testing and other preliminary eye exams
Assist the doctors with diagnostic testing and procedures
Order, receive, and maintain contact lens inventory and patient orders
Educate patients on contact lens care and usage as directed
Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinic equipment
Support daily clinic operations and other general eye clinic tasks as needed
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in an optometry or ophthalmology clinic preferred, but not required
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work efficiently in a team-based environment
Willingness to learn and follow clinical protocols
