Software Engineer II
As a Software Engineer II, you are a key player and influencer on the development team inside of Data & Services Technology. You will apply your broad knowledge of modern web software technologies to build leading-edge easy-to-use web interfaces and web services that drive our Loyalty Rewards platform. We are looking for motivated, hands-on individuals who will proactively seek ways to improve our products, software architecture, and our development process.
Mastercard’s next generation Loyalty Rewards platform uses a microservices architecture and modern web design to deliver the best user experience, a high level of availability, and a flexible architecture built for the future. We use agile development practices (specifically SAFe), advanced development and design practices, and an obsession over security, reliability, and performance to deliver solutions that delight our customers. In this role, you will:
- Work hands on with frameworks and languages such as TypeScript, Angular, Java, React, and Spring Boot
- Write high-quality, secure code that is modular, functional, and testable
- Assist with the design, implementation, and delivery for engineering efforts across a program
- Create or introduce, test, and deploy new technology to optimize the service
- Design and build technical roadmaps and guide the development staff on adoption
- Contribute to all parts of the software development cycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations
- Have strong ownership of your team's software and are deep in the maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and dependencies, including hardware, operating system, and build
All About You:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Angular, SQL (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL) and/or TypeScript
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts
- Experience object-oriented development and design patterns
- Knowledge of supporting software in a high availability production environment
- Strong written and verbal English communications skills
- Ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively in a global environment
- Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills
- Prior experience working in an Agile environment
- Proficiency with cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, serverless technology, NoSQL databases), micro-service design, CI/CD, DevOps
- Experience designing scalable fault tolerant platforms that are resilient to infrastructure failures
- Experience with the strangulation pattern and anti-corruption layers to migrate monolithic systems into independent services

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
