Job Description

The Internal Communications Coordinator contributes to overall employee engagement, retention, and job satisfaction by developing and delivering strategic communications that enhance understanding of key messages and drive desired behaviors. Working with partners in Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain Management and other key business areas, the Coordinator promotes awareness and understanding of important updates, tasks and responsibilities that are key to the operations of the Organization. The Internal Communications Coordinator leverages a variety of channels to communicate effectively with both targeted and broad employee audiences, with the ability to write messages in different voices and styles as necessary. The Coordinator understands the impact of organized, effective, and timely communications, knows how to balance competing priorities, can operate with discretion, and appreciates collaborating with multiple business areas.

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, strategy, or related area

  • Demonstrated writing/editing skills and analytical/creative experience necessary to address targeted messages to a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse employee groups, writing for a variety of different audiences, and knowledge of basic internal communication strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, human resources, strategy, or related area.

  • Experience using digital marketing tools such as web content management systems and email marketing platforms 

  • Experience writing editorial and informational messages to a variety of audiences 

  • Knowledge of basic internal communication principles, including employee engagement and change management 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills, including speaking in public, listening effectively, interviewing and gathering information from sources at all levels in the System 

  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills, analytical and creative thinking 

  • Mastery of English language and grammar, and ability to adopt nuanced writing voices and styles for different contexts 

  • Comfort working with staff in varying roles and levels of seniority 

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects at once, specifically with flexibility and adaptability to unexpected changes 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet or exceed deadlines 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports system-wide internal communications strategy by helping deliver key messages to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta audiences via e-mail, newsletters, posts, articles, talking points, and presentations. 

  • Works with Manager to plan, develop, and execute communication plans for business partners in Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, Payroll and Supply Chain Management. 

  • Serves as a resource and consultant to individual departments to review their communication methods, styles, and messages. 

  • Partners with Creative to produce collateral materials for campaigns and communication plans. 

  • Supports and develops relationships with business partners to identify opportunities to improve clarity in messaging and efficiency in processes.  

  • Updates and manages content on Intranet and other communication channels to support individual business areas and team projects. 

  • Assists in identifying new communication opportunities and develops appropriate messages. 

  • Supports System and Leader events organized by Internal Communications. 

  • Collaborates with Internal Communications staff to coordinate messaging. 

  • Maintains awareness of and proficiency in current trends and practices in employee communications.
