Important information about the vacancy:

  • Location: This position is based in São Paulo, Brazil, under a hybrid work model. Priority will be given to candidates residing in São Paulo; however, applications from other cities within Brazil will also be considered. Relocation support is not provided for this position.
  • Languages: It is required and a disqualifying requirement that the candidate speaks English at an advanced professional level and Native Portuguese (Spanish is highly valued). Candidates who do not specify language proficiency on their resumes will not be considered.

Role Introduction
The Accounting Specialist – Brazil plays a key role supporting the Accounting Controller to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the financial information of the legal entity in Brazil. This position contributes to daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and supporting financial reporting processes.

You will be a fundamental part of the finance team, contributing to the strengthening of financial controls, process improvements, and the generation of reliable information for business decision-making. This role offers exposure to various areas of accounting and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial operations
  • Experience with monthly closes, reconciliations, or financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Brazilian accounting standards and statutory requirements

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate level of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (ideally SAP S/4HANA)
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS and the Brazilian tax framework
  • Experience with tools such as Concur, HFM, or BlackLine is desirable

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • High level of integrity and commitment to compliance

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations and Transaction Processing

  • Process and validate accounting transactions in SAP, ensuring correct use of accounts, cost centers, and tax codes
  • Prepare journal entries such as provisions, accruals, intercompany, depreciation, and amortization
  • Maintain clear and auditable documentation for all operations
  • Support accounts receivable processes, including invoice follow-up and aging analysis
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor daily movements
  • Review employee expenses (T&E/Concur) and corporate credit cards to ensure policy compliance

Monthly Close Support

  • Support the monthly close process in accordance with the corporate calendar
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate differences
  • Ensure proper documentation for audits
  • Support the preparation of financial and management reports

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Comply with Cochlear policies and internal control standards
  • Support statutory reporting in Brazil (SPED and other requirements)
  • Assist in tax compliance processes (ISS, PIS/COFINS, among others) in coordination with advisors
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for internal and external audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve and strengthen financial controls

Financial Analysis and Business Support

  • Support expense monitoring and variance analysis versus budget
  • Contribute to financial analysis for business projects and initiatives
  • Provide support to areas such as Sales, Logistics, and HR
  • Support improvements in financial processes and reporting efficiency
