Job Summary:

Assists in the design and development of Information Technology (IT) systems and procedures involving development, support, evaluation, recommendations of existing systems (manual and automated), and operating requirements for various agencies resolving a variety of problems and processes and carries out assignments independently; assists in the development and implementation of project plans for the recommended systems; and performs other related duties as required.

  • Assists higher level staff with detailed work process studies, with special emphasis on evaluating the IT tools available to the process;

  • Participates in mapping out the work process;

  • Assists in evaluating graphical depictions of the analyzed process;

  • Assists in forming recommendations for process changes and adjusting project plans according to findings;

  • Cooperates and communicates with end users, leaders, and other individuals related to the work process being analyzed;

  • Documents project development and results of system, program, and equipment testing;

  • Keeps abreast of new IT developments and work methods of IT analysis;

  • Assists in network troubleshooting, and performing server and client analysis, configuration, and installation;

  • Assists with security and general system administration;

  • Participates on internal teams to improve IT programs and services; and

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training & Experience:

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree, and

  • two (2) years of specialized work experience.

Qualifying Specialized Work Experience:

Professional work experience in IT which include work in the areas of user and systems requirements and analysis, applications development and maintenance, computer systems support, network design and maintenance, and/or data/database analysis/administration.

License Requirement: Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license (Hawaii type 3 or equivalent).
