Northwest Container Services, a Waste Connections company, is currently looking for a full-time Gate Clerk to work at our Rail Yard in Portland, OR.

Shift is Monday - Friday

Schedule is 6:15 AM – 2:45 PM OR 7:15 AM - 3:45 PM

Wage is $23.00/HR - $24.00/HR

Responsibilities:

• Greet and direct all customers and drivers upon entrance to the terminal.
• Inspect intermodal containers for damage, ID numbers, seals when entering and exiting rail yard. Inspect trailers for roadworthiness when entering and exiting yard
• Provides customer service to truck drivers entering the yard about safety requirements, where containers are located, or where containers should be deposited.
• Document and enter into computer system arriving containers, and trailers.
• Work in a safety sensitive environment with trucks, trains, and heavy equipment
• Track truck details and inspections in handheld electronic scanning device.
• Enter truck information into computer system.
• Approach all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, customer service oriented manner.
• Work on your feet outside in all weather conditions throughout your shift.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Impeccable time management skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• On-the-job computer use/data entry.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to stand throughout an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to climb, bend, and stoop to inspect containers.
