Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President, Finance Services, Bucknell University is seeking a Senior Accountant, Finance Services. This role will focus on assisting the university with federal, state and local tax registration, compliance; reporting and return preparation; and developing and implementing accounting controls within the Finance Department. Assists in the direct oversight of the financial compliance and reporting of the University, including but not limited to: tax, payroll, disbursements, Department of Education and Information Technology (IT). This position requires a fundamental knowledge of tax law and accounting principles in order to accurately report and document the University's tax and financial information to various tax jurisdictions and regulatory agencies. This position requires strong leadership skills, high integrity, and the ability to represent the organization on many levels and on multiple project teams.
Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Finance Services
Hybrid, with an expectation to be on-campus for training, followed by the opportunity to work 1 day remotely following a successful training period.
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with additional hours as needed to complete the work of the position.
Prepares various internal and external reports.
Assists with collecting information and preparing a variety of tax filings.
Works with payroll and human resources teams to manage employment-related tax compliance and reporting.
Prepares and submits required organizational registrations and filings.
Updates and documents accounting procedures, performs reconciliations, prepares journal entries, and supports audit activities.
Provides guidance on tax-related questions.
Assists with coordination of system and technology projects affecting financial operations.
Helps update and monitor record-keeping policies.

Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience in financial reporting in higher education/not for-profit industry.
Thorough understanding and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial analytical tools and techniques commonly used in higher education.
Preferred, But Not Required:
CPA, MBA or other advanced degree
ADP SmartCompliance and/or Sprintax Calculus experience
Workday Finance experience
Office environment/no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands

72,640.00-90,800.00The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
