Position Summary/Purpose:

The Studio Assistant Lead supports the daily operations of the T.W. Lewis Center Broadcast and Podcast Studio and provides leadership to the student studio team. This position ensures professional-quality production of recordings, live broadcasts, and podcasts, while maintaining the studio’s readiness, safety, and functionality.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

  • Oversee setup, lighting, sound, and camera configurations for all recordings.
  • Operate Blackmagic switchers, cameras, teleprompters, and soundboards.
  • Coordinate and schedule studio sessions with faculty, guests, and departments.
  • Train and guide Studio Assistants in proper studio procedures and equipment handling.
  • Ensure all recorded content meets university and departmental production standards.
  • Maintain studio organization, cleanliness, and equipment inventory.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with GCU IT or AV teams when needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

MS Office
Blackmagic ATEM systems and switchers
Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Audition preferred)
RØDE and Shure audio recording systems
Professional studio lighting and camera systems

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or coursework in broadcasting, communications, or digital media.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate studio, sound, and lighting equipment.
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and professional in demeanor.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA (Bachelor) or 3.0 GPA (Master).
- Maintain good academic and financial standing with the University.

Work Environment:

Work performed primarily in the broadcast and podcast studio environment. May occasionally assist with campus event setups or recordings in alternate locations.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2026
