1Public Affairs Advisor for the San Joaquin Valley (SJV) serves as the lead communications advisor for the SJV asset and a key contributor to external stakeholder engagement efforts. The role develops and executes internal and external communications strategies aligned with business, employee engagement, and advocacy priorities, while supporting relationship-building with local government, community, and business stakeholders. The position also provides flexible support to the Corporate Affairs US West region team based on regional priorities and business needs. Job Description:
Internal & External Communications (approx. 60%)
External Stakeholder Engagement (approx. 20%)
Corporate Affairs (US West) Support (approx. 20%)
Necessary Skills and Experience:
Strategic communications and excellent writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage communications from strategy development through tactical execution, with strong storytelling capabilities across a variety of channels and audiences. Proven skill in developing clear, concise, and compelling content that supports business priorities.
External stakeholder engagement and relationship-building expertise.
Experience supporting or leading engagement with external stakeholders such as local government officials, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, or business partners. Demonstrated ability to prepare leaders for stakeholder interactions, develop key messages and briefing materials, and maintain productive, trust-based relationships in complex or sensitive environments.
Strong collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment where diversity is valued and inclusion is essential. Ability to partner with business leaders, colleagues, and Corporate Affairs peers to drive alignment and achieve shared outcomes.
Business and regulatory awareness.
Working knowledge of the energy industry and an understanding of business, government, and community dynamics in California. Ability to apply this knowledge to communications and stakeholder engagement activities that support business objectives.
Project management and organizational effectiveness.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, identify and analyze business challenges, and develop integrated communications or engagement approaches to address them. Skilled at planning, coordinating, and executing work efficiently while meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
