Are you passionate about helping students succeed in Math? Bucks County Community College is seeking a Mathematics Specialist to join our dedicated Academic Success team. In this role, you will provide mathematics tutorial services to students, conduct student workshops, create math-area resources, assist with tutor training and mentoring, and provide feedback to the Director regarding tutorial services provided by the Center. You’ll make a meaningful difference every day by empowering students to build confidence, strengthen their skills, and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tutor any currently enrolled BCCC student, including qualified non-credit students, at all four campuses, face-to-face, online, and on the phone.

  • Design, schedule, and administer workshops as requested for students on course content and learning strategies. Prepare, schedule, and present class orientations.

  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring of tutoring staff. Assist in certification training sessions adhering to the requirements for the International Tutor Training Program Certification from the College Reading and Learning Association.

  • Assist students and faculty by answering questions, directing them to resources, explaining tutoring policies and procedures, discussing student tutoring sessions as needed for coordinated support.

  • Act as a supervisor-on-duty in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director.

  • Assist in STEM-area session tracking and reporting student tutoring needs.

  • Foster effective communication with College departments, especially the School of STEM, the Accessibility Office, and Counseling Services.

  • Provide student support functions, such as scheduling student appointments in the software system, checking resources in and out (laptops and textbooks), and assisting students with the Center’s software system sign-in and sign-out procedures.

  • Administrative support functions, such as answering the phone, submitting resources for duplication, assessing textbook needs, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mathematics or a STEM-related field

  • College-level tutoring experience

  • Knowledge of and ability to tutor higher-level math and/or other STEM-related courses.

  • Demonstrated strength In communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in an environment of constant interruptions while remaining patient, empathetic, and polite.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.

  • Technological proficiency

  • Ability to work evenings as needed (schedules created semesterly)

  • Experience with a College Reading and Learning Association certified tutor training program (preferred, not required)

Salary Range $46,923 - $50,000 (commensurate with experience)
