Head Women's Bowling Coach
Job Description:
The Head Women’s Bowling Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program as it relates to practice and game preparation; budget management; fundraising; scheduling; scouting; recruiting; roster management; gear and equipment; and working with our home practice facility personnel. This position ensures the program works within NCAA, USBC, and University rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advanced knowledge of women’s bowling has been acquired through significant experience coaching or playing in a post-secondary environment of commensurate experience.
- Ensure that all Mount St. Mary’s University, NCAA, USBC, and MAAC policies and procedures are followed. Including, but not limited to, student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress. Ensure compliance with Mount St. Mary’s University, USBC, and NCAA rules by student athletes and sport related staff.
- Promote academic excellence, integrity, and graduation by working closely with respective Athletic Academic Advisor and the Office of Compliance.
- Teach fundamental skills and techniques, while preparing, leading, and executing practice and game plans for both championship and non-championship seasons.
- Prepare, manage, and maximize program operating budget with established fundraising goals.
- Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Direct and manage the women’s bowling program recruiting efforts of prospective student athletes to include the following: utilize ARMS/Teamworks, observe practices and games, host on-campus visits, initiate and respond to phone calls, emails, and mailings.
- Order and maintain appropriate uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Work in conjunction with the Business Operations Office to coordinate team travel for competitions to include van or bus itineraries, lodging, and meals.
- Assist Sports Information with statistics, press releases, publications, and social media content
- Establish, maintain, and be responsive to community and programmatic contacts.
- Develop meaningful relationships with prospective, current, and former student-athletes.
- Participate in fundraising, community service and engagement programs, assigned and/or coordinated by the Department of Athletics.
- Lead efforts to enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to adapt and problem solve
- Applicants must have collegiate playing experience and a proven track record of coaching at appropriate and progressive levels, demonstrating their practical skills and knowledge—thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Must have current driver’s license for transportation of university vehicles.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Must be CPA and first aid certified
- Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary Range
$50,000-$54,000/year
(Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications).
