  • Spearhead routing, siting, and permitting strategies for electric transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of consulting or industry experience supporting power clients with routing/siting and permitting projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. natural resource regulations, including:
    • Clean Water Act (Sections 401/404)
    • Endangered Species Act (Section 7)
    • National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106)
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate technical documents and permit applications.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and deadline-tracking skills.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and client engagement capabilities.

Preferred

  • Experience permitting transmission line projects.
  • Familiarity with USACE and state/local permitting requirements.
  • Ability to review Erosion & Sediment Control Plans, SWPPPs, NPDES Construction General Permits, and detailed construction drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver routing/siting and permitting solutions for complex power projects.
  • Conduct detailed routing analyses and prepare summary reports.
  • Develop permit applications for federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Lead agency consultations, client meetings, and stakeholder communications.
  • Prepare project schedules, progress reports, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with ERM experts on environmental impact assessments, land use planning, and risk management.
  • Travel up to 20% for agency meetings, site visits, and project coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to grow ERM’s market share.

For the Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery position, the anticipated annual base pay is $104,236 – $137,540 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
