Sediment contamination is one of the most complex environmental challenges of our time. As a Managing Consultant, Engineer / Scientist (Sediment Site Investigation & Remediation Management) in the Pacific Northwest, you’ll be at the forefront of ERM’s Sediment Site Investigation and Remediation Management (SI/RM) practice—driving innovation, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and delivering solutions that protect waterways and restore ecological balance. Your leadership will influence projects regionally and nationally, while connecting with ERM’s global network to advance best practices worldwide.

This position can be based from a local ERM office with hybrid status or fully remote if 100 miles away from an ERM office.

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aquatic sciences, engineering, geology, chemistry, or related discipline.

  • 4+ years of consulting experience with CERCLA-style state and federal sediment site investigation and remediation projects.

  • Proven project management expertise and ability to lead multi-person teams.

  • Strong “seller/doer” track record—proposal writing, winning projects, and client engagement.

  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and mentoring skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of sediment regulatory frameworks.

  • Ability to travel for site visits and client meetings.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in aquatic sciences, engineering, geology, chemistry, or related discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple sediment investigation and remediation projects, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule compliance.

  • Collaborate with ERM’s global SI/RM experts to deliver best-in-class solutions.

  • Provide leadership in staff development, performance management, and retention.

  • Drive business growth through client relationship management and cross-selling ERM’s services.

  • Contribute to technical innovation and share knowledge across ERM’s global network.

For the Managing Consultant, Engineer / Scientist Sediment Site Investigation & Remediation Management position, the anticipated annual base pay is $80,800 – $118,233 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
