Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Safety Coordinator at the Newport factory is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of OSHA standards, risk assessment practices, and industrial safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA).

  • Lead efforts to conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the facility.

  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; analyze root causes and recommend corrective/preventative actions.

  • Deliver safety training for associates.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, equipment inspections, and corrective actions.

  • Serve as a key contact for emergency response coordination and drills.

  • Work collaboratively with production teams and management to identify hazards and implement process improvements.

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices.

  • Track and report safety metrics to senior leadership on a regular basis.

  • Promote a culture of safety through continuous communication, engagement, and education initiatives.

Process Improvement & Lean Integration

  • Partner with the EHS manager to apply Lean manufacturing principles to the safety programs, eliminating waste, and improving efficiency.

  • Assist in the development of standardized documentation templates, inspection forms, and reporting workflows.

  • Identify process inefficiencies and support resolution through structured root cause analysis and preventive action planning.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and training skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Split between office and factory floor environment.

  • May involve exposure to loud noises, chemicals, and machinery.

  • Requires wearing appropriate PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
