Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma/GED
Certifications, Licenses or Registration required:
Valid US Driver’s License. MS Board on Emergency Telecommunications Standards and Training required post-hire within (one) 1 year of hire, and FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses required post-hire within 90 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of two-way radio communications systems. Skill in the use of computers and related software applications. Verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to obtain relevant information. Ability to prioritize incoming information and react calmly in emergency situations. Dispatchers must be clear spoken and understandable. Must maintain contact with all units on assignment; maintain status and location of field units; enter, update, and retrieve information on wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration and other information from statewide computer networks. Must exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in emergency situations, effectively communicate with and elicit information from upset and irate parties. Must be able to take and relay messages and perform related duties and assignments. Dispatchers must be able to exercise independent judgment and work with minimum supervision.

Physical and Environmental Demands:
Requires occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and occasional walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
