Job Summary:

The Manager-Property Control is responsible for managing and directing the personnel and operations of the Property Control Department, which oversees the reporting and auditing of UMMC’s major movable equipment, vehicles, buildings, land, and infrastructure.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in property control, asset management, or inventory management including one (1) year of leadership experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of asset management systems, policies and procedures, and management and organizational skills. Computer skills, including but not limited to asset management applications and Microsoft office products. Verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the operations and personnel of the Property Control Department and develops policies and procedures to accurately maintain inventory of major movable equipment, vehicles, buildings, land, and infrastructure.
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations and institutional policies regarding property accountability, including monthly and annual reporting of UMMC inventory as required by the State Auditor’s Office.
  • Reviews and approves monthly equipment reconciliations and journal entries for the UMMC Comptroller’s Office. Reports depreciation and gain/loss balances for fiscal year-end reporting.
  • Serves as the functional lead in the planning, development, and implementation of asset management systems and enhancements, including identifying priorities, defining requirements, and training users.
  • Prepares the annual budget for Property Control.
  • Directs the preparation and approval of all documents prior to submission to the UMMC Salvage Committee for the disposal of UMMC assets.
  • Coordinates the external state equipment audit of UMMC property conducted by the Office of the State Auditor. Creates departmental notifications and audit schedules, and submits documentation to resolve all state audit exceptions.
