Key responsibilities and critical success factors of the Vice President, Relationship Director and Investment Specialist role:
Serve as the “face” of Avantis Investors to the external marketplace! Understand Avantis Investors’ highly differentiated investment process and philosophy as well as American Century’s distinctive story, including its mission-driven purpose, unique private ownership structure and broadly diversified investment capabilities
Grow assets under management, most specifically with fee-based RIA’s. Collaborate with internal partners to identify and pursue sales opportunities
Contribute to the development and refinement of a strategic distribution strategy, cultivate relationships and build active pipeline with fee-based advisors nationally
Influence the creation of a consultative, solutions-based sales approach and a consistent and systematic approach for how Avantis strategically identifies, prospects and engages potential partners
Partner closely with product development, marketing, and investments to ensure competitive positioning across key client and product opportunities
A minimum of 5 years’ experience selling to sophisticated, fee-based RIA’s, must have direct experience and relationships with RIA’s
Ability to have sophisticated conversations with clients pertaining to portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk management. Broad-based understanding of general portfolio behavior and capital markets
Ability to represent Avantis Investors’ differentiated investment philosophy and process in a highly consultative and compelling manner
Possesses an intellectual curiosity for the investment process with strong analytical and technical ability
The personal and professional aptitude to thrive in an entrepreneurial, start-up culture where there will be ambiguity and the expectation to be hands-on and “in the trenches” while building the business from scratch
Comfortable team-based sales culture that expects collaboration, information sharing and partnership
Proven initiative to exceed job responsibilities, take informed risks, make principled decisions, and face issues head-on
Knowledge of ETF platforms, key decision makers, products and philosophies is highly desirable
FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses, or equivalent as required by state, or ability to attain licenses in a short-term frame
Travel to client and industry events is required
Bachelor’s degree
Graduate degree (MBA) and/or a related professional designation (CFA, CAIA) is preferred.
Employees are required to be in the office on a scheduled frequency. Adherence to this schedule is essential to fulfilling the expectations of the role.
