The OPS Data Assistant provides research and analytical support to the Office of Institutional Research & Data Analytics. This role assists in researching, troubleshooting, and resolving data issues related to state and federal reporting, conducts data quality reviews, and supports cross-training efforts for reporting processes. The position requires experience in institutional reporting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with staff across campus to ensure data accuracy and compliance with institutional reporting requirements.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in researching, identifying, and troubleshooting data issues across institutional reporting datasets, Banner student records, Workday and other source systems.
- Collaborate with IR&DA staff to validate data extracts, monitor data integrity, and document findings for correction and follow-up.
- Support the development of data validation checks, audit reports, and quality assurance processes.
- Review, analyze, and verify data accuracy and escalate issues as needed with recommendations for resolution.
- Assist in cross-training activities by documenting procedures, validation steps, and workflows used in recurring reporting tasks and data audits.
- Help maintain updated reference guides, checklists, and process notes to support operational continuity and staff development.
- Perform data cleaning, testing, and management tasks to support data requests, compliance reporting, and internal projects.
- Communicate with departments to obtain missing information and ensure timely completion of reporting tasks.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support institutional reporting, data governance, and analytics operations.

Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of data reporting experience involving data validation and documentation.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to apply basic mathematics skills and navigate data information systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in data analysis, education, business, information systems, or a related field.
- Experience working in higher-education data environments, preferably with institutional research or state/federal reporting.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner, Oracle, state reporting files, or similar student information systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately verify and interpret data.
- Ability to research and troubleshoot data inconsistencies or report errors.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding general office procedures and professional communication standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and onsite in a campus office environment.
