Theater technicians are generally responsible for the backstage area, including serving as stagehands, Stage Managers, and audio and lighting technicians. Including but not limited to the setup and strike of lighting/sound equipment, construction of scenery for the Fine Arts department, the general University, and public functions held in the Broad Auditorium
The Theater Technician will assist with the operation of sound and/or lighting equipment, setting up and operating sound and light equipment.
Maintaining general upkeep of equipment.
Organizing equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
The Theater Technician will assist in maintaining the facility clean, safe, and organized, following all established policies regarding cleanliness, safety, and proper disposal of materials.
Securing facilities, working materials, and tools after each day’s work.
The Theater Technician will assist with event rigging, preparation, and Theatre restoration. This includes reweighing rigs, repainting the stage, restoring the everyday house light plot, and restacking materials.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Must be a Barry University student
Knowledge of sound and light boards is preferred.
Ability to follow set/light plots and instructions
Must be able to handle tools and machinery in a safe manner
