The EMS Administrative Assistant is a detail-oriented individual who embodies team accountability while assisting in the coordination of assigned tasks and projects. They demonstrate proactive courtesy while providing secretarial support for patient care operations. They are responsible for facilitating the effective use of resources through thoughtfully anticipated organizing, communicating, and project coordination.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years Administrative, Secretarial or Clerical Experience in a healthcare or Public Service setting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint
  • Creative, self-directed, detail-oriented, and devoted to accuracy
  • Superior inter-personal communication skills and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience / education

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides diverse and unit specific clerical support and administrative assistance routinely and upon request
  • Assists in providing training upon request in the use of computers and software
  • When available, assists in covering EMS Administration
  • Builds productive interpersonal relationships in every encounter
  • Demonstrates teamwork
  • Creates meeting minutes for administrative meetings
  • Schedule and maintain calendar for EMS Chief and Assistant EMS Chief
  • Assist in filing of documents and be able to provide upon request
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for EMS Administration
  • Ability to travel when required by EMS Chief or Assistant EMS Chief
  • Each caregiver is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance. Activities may include prolonged visual interaction while working with computers.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently in addition to frequent prolonged sitting
  • Repetitive motions such as wrist and hand movements, grasping and finger dexterity related to clerical duties such as typing, writing, faxing, filing, etc.
  • Possibly exposed to a loud environment
