Required Qualifications:
• New Mexico Paramedic or RN
• Must meet the requirements for obtaining and maintaining life support certifications as outlined in the Life Support Certification policy
• Meet NM Public Regulatory Commission (PRC) DOT physical requirements
• Valid Driver’s License • Driving Record free of un-insurable violations
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two (2) years of direct patient care experience
• Completion of College level A&P • NM State Special Skills Endorsement for Rapid Sequence Induction
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Daily review of Patient Care Reports (PCRs) for EMS to ensure:
✓ Patient treatment guideline compliance
✓ Thorough documentation that meets national standards and National EMS Information System (NEMSIS) requirements
✓ CMS documentation requirements are met with regard to medical necessity and physician attestation for ambulance transport
✓ Billing and coding requirement documentation meets CMS and insurance industry measures
• Executes the department Continuous Quality Improvement plan and refers PCR revision or other documentation deficiencies to the supervisors and/or manager for definitive resolution
• Assists with the data collection and reporting to NM EMS Bureau for Special Skills Applications for EMS
• Assists with preparation and submission of case reviews, Mission Lifeline, and time sensitive conditions data for accreditation
• Works with department IT Coordinator to ensure both patient care reporting software and hardware are functioning appropriately and effectively
• Acts as department liaison to Products Council when needed. Meets and works with department Ops Committee to review new treatment modalities, medical equipment/supply needs and other projects when needed.
• Works to ensure the daily administrative functions such as staffing, maintenance/repair of equipment and other EMS daily activities are accomplished
• During normal working hours may be required to provide short-term paramedic coverage on ambulance due to unforeseen staff vacancy. Provides paramedic level pre-hospital care as delineated in the NM Scope of Practice.
• Assists with and works closely with EMS Training Division
• Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:

• Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
Occasionally may work on an ambulance when needed. Will have the same requirements listed for any on-duty paramedic:
• Ability to lift fifty (50) Kg.
• May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
• Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
• Handles emergency or crisis situations
• Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
• Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and injuries
