The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization, management, and accuracy of Access Control’s warehouse operations. This position ensures proper collection, tracking, and reporting of inventory data, including parts, equipment, and materials. The Warehouse Manager maintains optimal stock levels through systematic organization and regular cycle counts, ensuring efficient use of resources and uninterrupted operational support.

This role manages all inventory ordering and replenishment processes through BuyLU, ensuring compliance with institutional purchasing procedures. The Warehouse Manager also provides leadership and supervision to full-time employees and student workers assigned to warehouse functions, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence in supporting the mission of Liberty University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of all parts, equipment, and materials within Access Control four warehouses with a current stock value 1.6 million dollars
  • Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies in stock levels.
  • Implement and monitor inventory control procedures to reduce loss, waste, and inefficiency.

Procurement and Reordering

  • Manage all reordering and purchasing functions through BuyLU, ensuring compliance with procurement standards.
  • Track and forecast inventory to support ongoing operations and projects.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and project managers to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.

Warehouse Organization and Operations

  • Oversee the layout, labeling, and storage systems of all warehouse areas for optimal space utilization and accessibility.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment that aligns with safety standards.
  • Manage the receiving, inspection, and distribution of incoming materials and returns.

Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and train full-time staff and student workers assigned to warehouse operations.
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Foster a collaborative and disciplined work culture emphasizing stewardship, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze inventory and usage data to inform purchasing and operational decisions.
  • Prepare periodic reports on stock levels, expenditures, and departmental efficiency metrics.
  • Utilize inventory management systems to maintain up-to-date records and transparency in operations.

Compliance and Stewardship

  • Ensure adherence to all Liberty University and departmental policies regarding inventory, procurement, and safety.
  • Promote a culture of stewardship by managing resources responsibly and ethically.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews with accurate documentation and accountability.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position provides direct supervision and leadership to warehouse personnel, including full-time clerks and student workers. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring that all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures.

The position ensures that all warehouse staff are professionally trained and adhere to University and OSHA safety standards, maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The Warehouse Manager promotes a respectable and equitable workplace culture, ensuring all team members are treated with fairness and professionalism. Additionally, this role assists in conducting performance evaluations and provides constructive feedback to support employee development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

High school diploma or GED. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it. Must be meticulous, possess strong organizational skills, and well-developed communication skills.

Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent organizational skills. Regularly lift 50+ pounds. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is outdoors or in a climate-controlled warehouse setting. Outdoor conditions vary day to day.  

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
