The Attendant Care Worker delivers interactive, community-based mental health services to children and/or adults.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide support services such as mentoring, emotional support, life skills training, and personal care to clients.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
  • Interact with clients in a positive and supporting manner.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate clinical staff to facilitate the treatment plan outlined for the client.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and at least three years older than the youth.

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

  • Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first (based on location licensing requirements).
  • Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving)
  • Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving)
  • Successfully pass KBI, DCF, child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and routine motor-vehicle screens.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two years of experience working with adults or children in a health-related field.
  • Experience working in a KDHE facility.

Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations

  • none

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Light Work: Occasionally exerting up to 25 lbs - frequently exerting up to 10 lbs. 11-25% of the day may be standing or walking.
