Develops, implements, and maintains infection control and prevention programs for the healthcare system.

- Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
- Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board.
- Educate patients and staff on practices and techniques meant to reduce the spread of infectious diseases.
- Ensure that patient care or other activities comply with OSHA, Public Health, or CDC regulations.
- Monitor staff and patient illness and report outbreaks to appropriate authorities.
- Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification, to identify target populations, analyze trends and risk factors, and design and evaluate prevention and control strategies.
- Assess, monitor, and report on environmental risk factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience
Required License/Certifications/Registrations:
Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing or a compact state.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Education and Experience
- Infection control experience or additional course work in the spread of infections in healthcare settings.
Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations:
- Industry recognized certification for Infection Control.
- Member in good standing with APIC.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light Work: Occasionally exerting up to 25 lbs - frequently exerting up to 10 lbs. 11-25% of the day may be standing or walking.
