The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) participates in direct patient care and other supportive activities under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

- Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
- Accurately evaluate patient needs and develop/implement/review/maintain a comprehensive care plan.
- Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
- Provide for accurate administration and evaluation of medication, management of medication orders, medication prior authorizations, and delivery of medication to patients in a timely manner.
- Educate the patient/family on physical, emotional and psychosocial aspects of care, disease process, symptom and pain management, and signs and symptoms of death (when appropriate).
- Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to medical and/or supervisory staff when warranted.
- Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
- Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
- Graduate of accredited LPN program.
Required License/Certifications/Registrations
- Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
- Licensed Practical Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving)
- Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving)
