Job Description

Louisiana State University is seeking applications for postdoctoral researcher positions in offshore wind. The appointees will be members of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The positions are supported by the university-wide commitment to advancing development of the next generation floating offshore wind technologies. The ultimate goal of the postdoctoral researcher is to make fundamental contributions to the next generation of floating offshore wind.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·         Development of hydrodynamic models of offshore wind turbines under various wind and wave conditions. Prepare written and oral reports describing research results using illustrations, maps, appendices, and other information. - 40%

·         Conduct short- and long-term climate assessments of the next generation (e.g., 15 MW and 20 MW) fixed and floating offshore farms. -20%

·         Develop and modify computer models for hydrodynamic studies of offshore wind; apply research findings to help minimize their environmental impacts. -20%

·         Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, specifically, supporting research group meetings, guiding student projects, and presenting occasional seminars and classroom presentations. -15%

·         Other duties as assigned. -5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in Civil, Mechanical, and Coastal Engineering and Computational Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in Civil, Mechanical, and Coastal Engineering and Computational Science or related field.

·         Prior experience and strong motivation to continue work in several of the following areas is highly desirable: offshore wind energy, computational fluid dynamics, multiphase fluid mechanics, OpenFOAM, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, finite element modeling and fluid structure interactions.
