Summary of the Role
The function of the Welder is to prep and weld steel and stainless-steel parts using a TIG process as instructed by supervisors. This position also maintains a safe working environment and good housekeeping conditions.
Responsibilities
Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
Help create a safety culture and actively engage the workforce in projects that will help reach our journey to zero incidents
Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification
Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
TIG weld steel and stainless-steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings
Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
Follow, create and help maintain Welding Procedure Specifications
Set up welding cells for serial production runs
Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators
Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
Follow all safety rules and quality standards
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
Perform other duties as trained and qualified for
Skills and Abilities
Possess excellent customer service skills
Ability to interact with customers and team-members in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Requires proficiency in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure
Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, internet and email
Strong mechanical maintenance experience and strong knowledge hand and power tools
Experience with steel and/or stainless steel required
Experience with TIG welding a must
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Ability to identify and measure material
Ability to produce quality products consistently
The ability to read and comprehend blueprints
The ability to interact effectively with all employees
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
One year of TIG welding experience
Must be able to pass TIG welding test within six weeks
Requires the ability to organize and prioritize workload and be able to interact effectively with all types of people in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Must have a mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn about how our products are produced on equipment
Reliable transportation is a must
Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
Ability to work overtime, as required
Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an industrial setting
2+ years of manufacturing experience
Solid background working with metal
Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper, and Brass
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position is based in a production and warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to a range of environmental conditions. These include fluctuating temperatures (both hot and cold), varying noise levels, exposure to dust, and other typical elements of an active industrial environment. Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid.

Ability to work at varying work-surface levels and machine operation heights.

Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery (training and certification may be required).
Ability to enter and exit a service vehicle and other mechanical equipment multiple times per day.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats, depending on task or site conditions.
