Job Description:

The Engler research group is seeking a Post Doctoral Researcher to conduct device-level electrochemical engineering studies for a project funded by the National Science Foundation. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative project (4 research institutes) on designing processes to convert biomass waste into sustainable liquid fuels. The main duties will include designing, fabricating, and characterizing electrochemical engineering reactors. They will collaborate with experts in polymer electrolyte design and processing, electrocatalyst design, and simulated experiments to generate high-impact findings. Additionally, postdoctoral researchers are expected to take leadership roles in laboratory, such as training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students as well as developing new methods. As such, successful candidates will demonstrate initiative, leadership, creativity, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively on research projects, write reports and manuscripts, and present findings at science and engineering conferences. This position is initially for one year with the intent to extend it for a second year contingent upon performance. 

80% Conduct research in the field of electrochemical engineering; work independently on research projects; collaborate with other research groups.

10% Write reports, manuscripts; give presentations in conferences

10% Help supervise graduate and undergraduate students and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph. D in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related field
