This is an Advanced Journeyman position that serves as a night, weekend, and holiday duty position. This position requires advanced skills in the HVAC controls and energy management areas, with secondary skills in plumbing, electrical and general maintenance; superior technical skills to successfully perform complex repairs, technical diagnostic analysis, modifications, and installation of state of the art electronic, electrical, and pneumatic controls; air and hydronic distribution systems; and balancing associated with HVAC and refrigeration systems on the LSU Campus. Performs lead worker duties, covers supervisory absence.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs diagnostic analysis in locating malfunctions and performing repairs, testing, calibration, etc. of complex electronic/pneumatic HVAC controls, EMS systems, air and hydronic balancing, etc.- (50%)
Performs repairs and scheduled maintenance on HVAC/refrigeration systems, HVAC/electronic, pneumatic and EMS systems, and other maintenance requirements. - (25%)
Monitors building complex temperatures via installed electronic and computer systems, diagnosis visualized problems and performs electronic adjustments and/or field calibration or repairs as required. - (15%)
Performs general maintenance mechanic duties (including but not limited to: filter replacement, belt tensioning, basic plumbing, light replacement, etc.) on all systems on campus. Other duties as assigned. - (10%)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back, climb ladders, and work reaching overhead.
Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
