The Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Control Systems at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.
The position is open to candidates with expertise in all areas of control systems, including but not limited to autonomous systems, robotics, cyber-physical systems, and intelligent control. As part of LSU ECE’s strategic growth in autonomy, digital systems, and industrial innovation, the successful candidate will join a vibrant and expanding program at the state’s flagship university.
Job Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for developing and sustaining a nationally and internationally recognized research program in control, robotics, dynamics, and related areas while also teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in control, robotics, dynamics, and related areas. This includes supervising and mentoring postdoctoral scholars, graduate, and undergraduate students. The incumbent is also expected to publish impactful research and disseminate results in high-quality journals and premier conferences, to collaborate with across disciplines and engage with industry, national laboratories, and government agencies, and to contribute to service at the Division, College, University, and the professional levels.
50% Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels in areas of controls, dynamics, robotics, and related areas. Supervise and advise graduate and undergraduate students, and supervise postdoctoral researchers.
50% Develop and sustain a nationally and internationally recognized research program in the areas of controls, dynamics, and robotics. Publish research in highly ranked journals and conference proceedings. Collaborate with industry, national laboratories, and government agencies. Participate in University service, including committee activities.
Assistant Professor Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field.
- Applicants who are all but dissertation (ABD) and will complete the Ph.D. by the time of appointment will be considered.
- Demonstrated record or strong potential for research excellence and external funding.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching, mentoring, and fostering a learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field.
- A research portfolio that demonstrates the application of advanced control theory to challenging physical systems.
- A strong industrial background is highly desirable.
- We welcome candidates who have led or contributed significantly to the development and deployment of control systems in an industrial R&D setting.
Associate Professor Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field with 4 years of experience beyond Ph.D.
- Demonstrated record or strong potential for research excellence and external funding.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching, mentoring, and fostering a learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field with 4 years of experience beyond Ph.D.
- A research portfolio that demonstrates the application of advanced control theory to challenging physical systems.

Full Professor Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field with 8 years of experience beyond Ph.D.
- Demonstrated record or strong potential for research excellence and external funding.
- Proven commitment to high-quality teaching, mentoring, and fostering a learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or closely related field with 8 years of experience beyond Ph.D.
