Job Description:

The Research Associate 4 performs laboratory management, performs experiments related to inflammation, infection, and cancer, optimizes parameters through pilot experiments, and provides research assistance to the PI, postdocs, and graduate students.

Job Responsibilities:  

 50%- Assisting the PI in research: preparation for experiments, tissue collection and processing, cell counting, molecular and cellular analyses, data collection and documentation, data analyses, and image presentation.

20%- Animal screening: perform genotyping on animal strains to screen for correct genetic information for research projects.

Animal care: monitoring animal health and collecting physiological data for research projects.

20%- Training junior students in Standard Operating Procedures related to basic molecular, cellular, and animal experiments. Assisting postdocs and graduate students in experimental preparation and sample collection.

10%- Laboratory management: test trial products, ordering, inventory, paperwork for ordering, unpacking and stocking, laboratory bench safety monitoring, and organizing laboratory activities. Other duties as assigned.

  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  Master's Degree in Immunology, Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, and related life sciences fields; and two (2) years of Laboratory experience working on molecular, cellular, and animal experiments. Comfortable working with mice.

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

 Ph.D. in Immunology, and related life sciences fields; and one (1) year of laboratory experience working on molecular, cellular, and animal experiments. Comfortable working with mice.

  

Special and Physical Qualifications: 

Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching (above shoulder), reaching (below shoulder), vision (near sight), vision (far sight), and lifting less than 50 pounds.
