Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Tenure -Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics 


SUPERVISOR: Dean, College of Science, Technology & Mathematics 


PURPOSE: Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a full-time 
tenure track Assistant Professor position in mathematics. This position focuses on providing high­quality instruction in undergraduate mathematics courses both on campus and online. LSUA is partnering with LSU to offer the BS in Mathematics online and will count on the new hire to play a vital role in that partnership. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, advising, and service activities, enhancing the academic experience for LSUA students. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Typical duties include but are not limited to:

•    Develop and teach undergraduate mathematics courses in face-to-face and online formats.
•    Maintain high standards of instruction and utilize innovative teaching methods to support student success.
•    Regularly hold office hours and provide academic support to students in person and electronically.
•    Serve as an academic advisor, offering guidance to students on course selection and career planning.
•    Participate actively in university committees, meetings, and departmental initiatives.
•    Contribute to curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with academic goals.
•    Engage in scholarly activities
•    Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, Department chair, or University administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

+    Required Qualifications:
•    Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered if the Ph.D. is completed by the time of hire.
+    Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses, including Actuarial Science topics such as financial mathematics, probability, etc.
•    Demonstrated excellence in classroom and online teaching.

•    Familiarity with or experience in online course development and delivery.
•    Evidence of engagement in scholarly or professional development activities
