AVP, Mortgage Servicing
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Servicing leads the operations of the general mortgage loan servicing and document imaging record retention functions associated with first mortgages, equity loans, and mobile home loans to ensure loans are serviced in accordance with VyStar and secondary market requirements, policies, and procedures. Must be well versed in all Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as FNMA/FHLMC servicing and mortgage insurance servicing requirements. Must demonstrate proficiency in federal and state regulations pertinent to all aspects of mortgage loan servicing, collections, and loss mitigation. Staffs, trains, supervises evaluates and develops employees in conjunction with the Vice President Mortgage Servicing & Loss Mitigation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads servicing staff and related functions consistent with VyStar Credit Union policies and procedures, secondary market guidelines, and state/federal regulations.
- Directs department supervisors to ensure all work is scheduled, monitored, and completed timely.
- Makes loan servicing action decisions as authorized by policy and in conjunction with secondary market, private mortgage insurance, and federal/state regulations.
- Ensures staff receives pertinent training to complete all job-related skills and soft skills to support employee growth and development. Mentors, counsels, and completes performance evaluations for supervisors and employees under direct supervision.
- Assigns mortgage servicing staff to work with the Mortgage System Analyst and ISD/ITO Department staff to develop, provide testing resources to implement software enhancements to improve operating efficiencies resulting in improved member service.
- Manage and enhance general servicing workflow processes including but not limited to: escrow, hazard, tax. PMI, payoffs, and reconveyance.
- Manage third party vendor relationships and ensure oversight over vendor performance.
- Act as the mortgage lead for Merger & Acquisition activities as it relates to identifying and understanding mortgage lending regulations & policies, loan products, and credit risk.
- Act as the representative for Mortgage Servicing on projects specific to this line of business. Actively participate, and lead when appropriate, in key re-engineering projects to enhance Mortgage Servicing processes and procedures.
- Assist in training of Mortgage Servicing Department on government servicing policies and procedures related to servicing FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
- Incumbent is expected to demonstrate each of the following VyStar Excellence behaviors and to provide support and feedback to employees assigned to the Mortgage Servicing Department to consistently practice and demonstrate VyStar Excellence behaviors in performing the duties and responsibilities of their position.
- Makes recommendations to Vice President Mortgage Servicing & Loss Mitigation for enhancements to servicing existing products as deemed necessary. Reviews software needs, stays abreast of changes within the servicing industry and makes recommendations to maintain operating efficiencies. Coordinates with the Mortgage System Analyst and ISD/ITO staff as appropriate to develop, provide testing resources, and implement software changes.
- Monitors and counsels staff to practice and embrace behaviors consistent with the credit union initiative for VyStar Excellence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Continuing education via local conferences and workshops is required for updates on federal regulations and secondary market requirements.
EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years’ experience in a financial or lending institution with direct member contact in the mortgage servicing functions and 3+ years of leadership experience.
- Must have in depth knowledge of mortgage loan servicing for Conventional and equity loan financing.
- Must be well versed in servicing requirements for secondary market guidelines, and private mortgage insurance company requirements.
- Must be proficient and knowledgeable in all servicing and mortgage collection related state and federal regulations governing mortgage lending, specifically CFPB loan servicing requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability and working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Proven ability to work under stress and heavy workload environment.
- Incumbent must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
