As the Major Gift Officer, you will partner with passionate individuals to inspire and guide them toward joyful, missional giving. In this rewarding role you will steward a portfolio of donors, help them discover the deeper purpose of their resources, and channel those gifts into the life‑changing work of the International Mission Board.
Location: remote -two locations: GA and TX
Rate: $100k-120K
In this rewarding position, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing leadership in biblical stewardship among individual givers, helping to resource the mission of IMB through various giving strategies. This position encourages givers to discover biblical generosity and unlock the joy of giving as an act of their worship.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with 75-150 current and potential giver relationships within your assigned portfolio.
Engage givers in meaningful discussions about gift strategies, including outright and deferred giving options, to promote greater mission and ministry depth through the local church and IMB.
Implement a moves-management plan aligned with an established gift-cycle for your portfolio, focusing on achieving a giver-centric strategy with goals for annual gift proposals, face-to-face visits, documented gift closures, and compliance with internal and ethics policies.
Maintain accurate records of constituent activity in the Ministry Advancement database and complete additional administrative responsibilities as required.
Continuously grow your knowledge of giving trends, changes to charitable tax law, giving vehicles, and general knowledge of philanthropy and ethics, as well as missiological practices and strategic IMB giving opportunities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, communications, non-profit management), preferred
At least 5 years of experience in major donor work, with a proven track record of securing gifts ($10,000+) from individual donors
Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining relationships with major donors, foundations, and other key stakeholders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire givers and other stakeholders
Experience with planned giving, including charitable trusts, estates, and other complex gift vehicles
Good understanding of SBC denominational culture and SBC church affiliation
Maintain the respect and support of IMB/NAMB/Send Relief constituencies
Proficiency in relational database software, such as Raiser's Edge or similar system
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Accustomed to collaborative work with internal and external partners
Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to complex problems
Must be in the Atlanta area with a focus on building relationships and engaging with constituents in the local and statewide community
Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
