ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts root cause analysis to diagnose and resolve multifaceted technical issues across diverse gaming platforms, operating systems, and hardware configurations. Applies IT field knowledge and engineering proficiency to ensure continuous reliability of gaming technology, including troubleshooting circuitry, voltage regulation, and power systems. Leverages advanced understanding of network architecture, communication protocols, and system integration to maintain secure data flow and accurate revenue tracking. Escalates incidents decisively based on risk assessment and in strict alignment with Tribal laws, regulatory standards, and technical governance frameworks.
2. Coordinates compliance-driven technical initiatives by coordinating regulatory actions, aligning cross-functional project execution, and providing expert guidance on gaming system implementations. Oversees planning and delivery of complex technology projects involving diverse platforms and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Tribal laws, technical standards, and operational priorities. Makes high-impact decisions under regulatory scrutiny to select secure, compliant technologies that protect tribal revenue and optimize resource allocation.
3. Applies advanced data analysis techniques to detect patterns, trends, and anomalies in gaming machine behavior to generate actionable analytics. Correlates data findings with physical hardware diagnostics ensuring comprehensive resolution and operational reliability.
4. Conducts initial assessment of patron disputes by securing the scene to prevent tampering and preserve integrity of gaming activity and logs. Collects and documents physical evidence, including confiscation of gaming devices when necessary. Interviews involved patrons, reviews audit logs, chat transcripts, and surveillance footage to evaluate player behavior and identify anomalies or coordinated actions. Compiles comprehensive incident reports detailing timelines, evidence summaries, and findings to support internal reviews or potential legal proceedings.
5. Executes technical initiatives by applying project management methodologies to uphold game integrity and optimize tribal resource utilization. Coordinates efforts to plan, implement, and monitor gaming technology projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and operational goals. Delivers measurable outcomes by integrating technical precision, compliance oversight, and risk-based decision-making to support secure, efficient, and legally sound gaming environments.
6. Implements San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) regulatory directives to safeguard game integrity and ensure full compliance with tribal and industry standards. Maintains detailed records of regulatory actions, correspondence, and recommendations. Supports enforcement efforts by validating gaming technology configurations and ensuring all actions are traceable, auditable, and aligned with legal and operational requirements.
7. Documents independent technical assessments and regulatory analyses grounded in factual evidence to support enforcement actions against non-compliance. Applies advanced analytical skills to evaluate gaming system behavior, identify violations, and produce defensible findings that enable the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) to take decisive, regulation-aligned action. Ensures all documentation is thorough, accurate, and compliant with legal standards, reinforcing the integrity of the regulatory process and protecting tribal gaming operations.
8. Manages compliance and lifecycle management for over 115,000 software assets and 8,000+ gaming and peripheral devices, including slot machines, kiosks, progressive controllers, media players, and shufflers, by conducting targeted audits, validating system configurations, and resolving discrepancies within defined service-level timelines. Ensures regulatory alignment and operational integrity through precise asset tracking and technical oversight across diverse platforms.
9. Collaborates cross-functionally with departments such as Table Games, IT, and Slots to coordinate device replacements, validate software functionality, and verify critical system settings. Supports regulatory audits by producing detailed technical documentation and ensuring all activities align with compliance standards and operational protocols. Facilitates seamless integration of gaming technology through effective communication, technical oversight, and adherence to regulatory frameworks.
10. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT) or Engineering preferred.
Minimum of three (3) year of experience in Technology or Engineering preferably in the Gaming industry or Regulatory/Compliance, required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Advanced proficiency in data analytics platforms including Power BI, Tableau, Excel (pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas), and SQL-based reporting tools for generating actionable insights.
Skilled in real-time event tracking and analysis using Splunk, ELK Stack, and syslog analyzers to monitor system health and detect anomalies.
Advances proficiency in network analysis tools including Wireshark, network mapping utilities, and SNMP-based monitoring systems for diagnosing and optimizing network performance.

Hands-on experience with electrical and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, LTspice, AutoCAD Electrical, and voltage testers for hardware troubleshooting and design validation.
Experienced in remote access and system management tools including RDP, SSH, TeamViewer, Windows/Linux OS utilities, and BIOS/firmware configuration.
Familiar with governance, risk, and compliance platforms such as Archer and MetricStream, with practical experience in maintaining regulatory audit trails and supporting compliance initiatives.
Proficient in collaboration and development tools including Confluence, SharePoint, Git, Jira, and ServiceNow for documentation, version control, and issue tracking.
Experienced in infrastructure setup and maintenance using cable testers, labeling systems, and rack layout software to ensure organized and efficient hardware deployments.
Thorough understanding and application of Technical Standards, as well as Tribal, State, and Federal Laws relevant to the role, with demonstrated ability to interpret and implement regulatory requirements.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
A+ or N+ certification preferred.
Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
