Description
The Instrumentation Department is seeking an Instrument Technician Specialist to perform designated calibration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on industrial pneumatic and electronic distributed instrumentation, and control systems. Reporting to the Instrumentation Supervisor, the technician will perform the following duties.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Qualifications:
• Must have completed a certified apprenticeship program in an instrumentation and controls trade, or have an AA degree or higher in a controls related field, or have several years’ experience as journey level instrumentation and controls technician or other technical program and a minimum of six years commercial or military experience in the field of metrology or instrumentation.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic instruments and controls.
• Knowledgeable of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1 requirements
• In-depth knowledge of PLC programming and PID control loop tuning/optimization.
• Be fully conversant with the use, design and development of a wide variety of integrated control systems and instruments.
• Must be able to work from prints, sketches and or verbal instructions.
• Must be able to handle all problems that arise on shift independently and in a timely manner.
• Intermediate knowledge of metrology practices and theories in a particular discipline(s): electronics, mechanics, dimensional analysis, chemistry, thermometry, acoustics and vibration,
• Ability to identify hazards associated with work and to develop methods to mitigate those hazards.
• Ability to develop work plans and to document all work.
• Must be a team player with excellent communication skills and have an emphasis on quality service.
