The Registered Dietitian is an expert in human nutrition and medical nutrition therapy. The Registered Dietitian supports the community(s) in multiple states to provide clinical nutrition and menu management services. This position supports quality assurance & performance improvement for the community(s) in IL, NH, OK and other states to be added in the future. The work should be performed onsite, at each community as necessary, or may be performed remotely as appropriate. Frequent travel is required.

Clinical Nutrition Assessments

  • Provide nutritional care for long-term care residents, including assessment, nutrition diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluation.

    • Care Planning for patients and residents.

    • Provide dietary education to patients and residents as needed.

  • Complete the Material Data Set (MDS) as part of nutrition assessment, as applicable.

  • Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets, and menu requests.

Menu Management

  • Review menus to ensure they meet multi- state and regulatory guidelines.

  • Collaborate with chef and/or dining services director to amend menus, as needed.

  • Educate staff on proper nutritional care.

Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement

  • Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g., HIPPA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).

    • Conduct mock surveys for quality assurance and improvement needs prior to survey window.

    • Provide education and/or guidance to teams based on findings from mock survey

  • Establish operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them to other departments.

Customer Service

  • Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for nutrition assessments and care planning of patients and residents.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Required Degree:  Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or similar

Preferred Degree:  Master’s Degree in Nutrition or similar

Certificate(s):

  • Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

  • Licensed Dietitian/Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist or equivalent credential, as required by state of practice

Experience: 

  • 5-year experience in a clinical or long-term care role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels.

  • Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents and representation of the organization.

  • Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts in area of specialty.

  • The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze the information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable, alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Most of the time is spent in an office setting or dining operations setting (kitchen, dining room). The position requires occasional handling of lightweight materials and physical ability to use the telephone, computer and keyboard, printer, and other office equipment.

  • The position requires ability to travel by car and / or air (frequent travel).

Compensation Pay Range:

$29.77 - $37.24 per hour

Reasonable Pay Estimate

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $29.77 - $37.24 per hour. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
