DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Local Corporate Sponsorship supports CAI, the Cape and Islands NPR station, by generating revenue through partnerships with local businesses and organizations. The department secures sponsorship across CAI’s broadcast and digital platforms in alignment with public media values and guidelines. The team focuses on building long‑term, relationship‑driven sponsorships that support CAI’s local journalism, programming, and service to the Cape, Coast, and Islands. Local Corporate Sponsorship works to deliver effective, well‑executed campaigns while maintaining CAI’s strong credibility in the community.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Account Manager, Local Corporate Sponsorship is responsible for generating and growing sponsorship revenue in support of CAI, the Cape and Islands NPR station. This role manages a portfolio of existing sponsors while placing a strong emphasis on new business development and re-engagement of lapsed accounts. The Account Manager serves as both a sales professional and a community ambassador for one of the region’s most trusted local media institutions, deeply rooted in the Cape, Coast, and Islands communities. Note: This position offers a base salary plus commission.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Account Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of local and regional sponsorship accounts across Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket, with responsibility for meeting or exceeding annual revenue goals.

  • Develop customized sponsorship solutions across on‑air, digital, and newsletters that align client marketing objectives with public media values.

  • Conduct regular in‑person and virtual meetings with sponsors within the Cape & Islands business community.

New Business Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new sponsorship partners, with a focus on small, medium and large  businesses in the region and key regional sectors.

  • Cultivate leads through monitoring competitive leads, consistent outreach to businesses, community presence, networking, referrals, and participation in regional business associations.

Strategic Planning

  • Lead strategic planning efforts tied to seasonal revenue cycles, including peak summer tourism periods and off‑season retention initiatives.

  • Design timely sponsorship opportunities connected to seasonal programming, sponsor reports / features and initiatives relevant to the Cape & Islands audience.

Stewardship & Retention

  • Ensure timely renewals, upsells, and contract modifications while maintaining high levels of sponsor satisfaction and retention.

  • Re-engage former sponsors and reposition CAI opportunities

  • Address sponsor questions and concerns promptly and professionally, balancing client goals with public media standards and guidelines.

Community Representation

  • Serve as a visible and professional ambassador for CAI at local events, sponsor activations, and community gatherings.

SKILLS SET

  • ​Broadcast, media, or sponsorship sales experience

  • Familiarity with public media or mission-driven organizations

  • Resourceful and results driven

  • Strong interpersonal soft skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of CRMs and databases

  • Knowledge of GBH and non-profit

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 2-4 years of sales experience required.

SALARY

The base salary range for this position is $50,000–$52,000. This role is also eligible for commission under our sales incentive plan, with total on‑target earnings (OTE) of approximately $70,000 -$80,000 per year.

Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.
